Wendell Corey take advantage of a Mexican worker, recently become American citizen, and do their best to keep him down when wanting to get paid. Somewhat simplistic take on such story, but it keeps it calm and lets common sense prevail. Ricardo Montalban comes off as the ideal newcomer, while also being incredibly handsome. The weird romance with a drunken Shelley Winters was sweet.

Ricardo Montalban plays a character whose positivity would put Dale Carnegie to shame. He is given every reason to turn to despair, but it's not in him. Shelley Winters is his opposite, and for unexplained reasons he loves her. Very melodramatic but watchable.
