Since we're having a "Bad Animation Day" here in this household, we put on My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021), even if the demo was way off. But in a weird way, this might turn-out to be one of the more positive cartoon experiences we'll have today. While highly predictable, the production and gags were polish enough to resemble mainstream animation. Story is about propaganda and misinformation between two groups of ponies. So basically it's the Bronie version Democrats vs Republicans.

I have many questions. I guess kids can love it and learn some things. Not a fan of the redesign since it looks like they spliced Frozen's Elsa with pigs.

Subverting opening but it's a downhill slide from there. I appreciate that for the first time in MLP cinematic universe, a male pony is part of the main cast. There was a great setup for a story but it would've been better suited for a series. It offers emotionally nothing its predecessor hadn't already done - and better at it.

Polite and aims to please, it packs no punch in an effort to make the product and the message suitable for children. Kids will love it and it sends a great message for the youngin's but the telling of the tale is unexceptional.

Did not expect a MLP movie to be this overly political and that counts for a lot to me. Animation and jokes are not bad, either.

I didn't like the new CGI Trolls look of the ponies versus the 2D animation of Friendship is Magic. While FIM felt like there was a decent amount of lessons for kids and fantasy lore, this one felt like a by-the-numbers DreamWorks animated film with a plot about Trumpian politics that didn't seem like it'll age well. Maybe the sequel will be better. Fav scene: the intro made me wonder about where this fits into the canon.
