My Dad Is 100 Years Old was made to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of my father's birth in 1906. I know that during his centennial year there will be occasions to celebrate and remember my father's work and I will be asked to present his films at screenings and give interviews. I wanted to say more than what I usually can say during those occasions (Isabella Rossellini)

At once sentimental and raw this is a great, personal tribute from Rossellini to her father - and a great reminder of the importance of his films.

Isabella Rossellini is what happens if Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman had a child

a rather impressive short that explores both her father's life and how she thinks about his films, reflecting on a number of things. don't want to jump the gun here, but this could be better than most of her father's work.

Very creative, surreal yet personal elegy for one of cinemas greatests - Roberto Rossellini. A treat for film buffs.

Isabella Rossellini giving a humorous portrait of her father Roberto Rossellini. Tries to explain the complicated man through historic figures in the movie industry that Isabella gets to dress-up as. Doesn't glamorize the man, but what we get is unmistakably through a daughters eyes.

Maddin gives us a creative documentary where Rossellini works through her feelings for her father and his movies. It could have just been a documentary where she sits there merely talking, but this is more because of the directorial prowess of Maddin and the writing of Rossellini. Watching her act as different important figures in the industry in order to debate her fathers' work was pretty riveting stuff, and definitely a fresh take on this kind of documentary.

The "belly" as Rossellini is a good idea because we remember people not as a whole as it was depicted in mainstream movies but as a bodily trait or mimic which were influential and important for us.

This might be the best short film I've ever seen.

Remarkable short movie that is both a moving personal reflection by Isabella Rossellini and a disquisition on art and politics in the cinematic age. A very sympathetic portrait of her father, although personally I tend to prefer the work of other so-called neo-realists over Roberto’s.

"Even those unfamiliar with the work of Roberto Rossellini should get something out of Guy Maddin's haunting and memorable short film My Dad is 100 Years Old." - Keith Uhlich

A short elegy by Isabella Rossellini to her father Roberto, directed with immense creativity and flare by Guy Maddin. Rossellini acts in the roles of both her parents and several famous directors as they converse among themselves or with her, explicating the controversies surrounding his life and thought. Yet she herself is the central character as she digs out the personal baggage of memories, feelings and ideas that her legendary father left her with.
