While I wouldn't call this good, the world is a better place for this existing simply because it really has no right to. Is this a dramedy? It's hardly dramatic, and utterly fails when it tries to be ("Moody, you bastard!"). A comedy? It's not really funny. This late 70s time capsule features a slutty grandmother, a skirt-chasing Marty Mull, Matt Dillon calling people "faggots" and a pair of protagonists who never try to get laid, which in this post-American Pie world, seems positively radical.

There is nothing like watching a bully get his, but My Bodyguard is more than this simple pleasure. The heartfelt story of friendship is paramount, which is only possible with a pair of great performances from the two young leads. An under seen gem.

This is an entertaining film with some heart. The script is straightforward but it works. The film is well cast, the actors do a good job. Overall I would recommend this film.

Solid youth/teen film with a very young Matt Dillon as a bully and Joan Cusack in a supporting role. Makepeace and Baldwin play together really well. It's a bit more serious in tone than later entries in the genre, and somewhat outdated in it's views, but still an enjoyable film.

So true to life back in the day and yet so mild when compared to the bullying of today. I loved it as a young adult and I still enjoy it now.

As a 15-year-old, I loved this movie. As an adult, I'm not sure it would hold up, but it still holds a special place in my heart.

A decently inspiring if occasionally a bit overly cheesy pre-"Fast Times" and pre-John Hughes teen movie. It's a looser screenplay with more extraneous dialogue and less "punchlines" than we're used to from the genre today, but you get to know the two characters well and it has a unique charm. Young Adam Baldwin rocks.
