Hard talk about the first filming of Tarantino. It is completely amateur and there is no end of story. But it's cool see here, that he already had an original style.

I forgot if this film has an ending, it's like twenty minutes and just ends. It's cool and entertaining while it lasts.

Rating it doesn't really make sense. It is an amateur movie and only parts of the it survived. It shows Tarantino's obsession with movies, that he knows his way around camera and that he can write damn good dialogs.

This is an unfinished picture, some sort of draft of everything Tarantino would do in his films, but undeniably attractive. This one might also be naive in its references and dialogues -- the Elvis talk, the De Palma talk, some quotable lines like "I'm in hell!", stuff like garlic gum --, and everything here still seems fresh, something made from a fan of pop culture to fans of pop culture. Nice -- and Aldo Ray is also here, you know.

Very cool. There's a bit of everything that would become Tarantino's trademarks. What a shame that most of its footage got burnt, so we're able to see just about 35 minutes of it.

Difficult to rate properly given it is either incomplete or partly lost, but Tarantino's amateur debut is a choppy mess, showing he was always at home as a writer of quirky dialogue, but his skills as a film-maker had to be learned. Highlighted by an amusing digression on Elvis, and a well-staged clumsy kung-fu fight. Whether the missing footage would have improved the messy structure and choppy editing is a mystery; as it is, an unmissable curio for any Tarantino completists.

I was always interested in this piece, being the very first picture directed by Tarantino. Unfortunately it really lacks the usual budget. The production value is very low which is really a shame, because the dialogues are topnotch level even in this very early piece. Sadly, it fails to shine in any other way. There is no excellent soundtrack, no expensive practical effects, and the runtime is only 40 minutes, so even the story has no time to unfold. Only recommended to hard core Tarantino fans.

Quirky yet pretty terrible.
