PRC takes over the Michael Shayne license from 20th Century Fox, but Lloyd Nolan is not along for the move. Instead Hugh Beaumont takes the place as the detective. Can't say things got on with flying start. Everything came-off as pure routine. Honestly, so did the Fox series, but Nolan made those work. Beaumont doesn't have the same out-going personality and PRC doesn't have the reputation of snappy paced movies. But for a standard, it was alright without any fireworks
