Big-Fat-Ugly-Bug-Faced-Baby-Eating O'Brien. The kid in this sucks and has the worst singing voice. Tim Curry feeling the shit out of this. It was either this or the 120 Days of Gonzo.

Not as strong as previous entries in the Henson Company's extensive catalogue of masterworks. Character arcs feel under-developed and the humor downright Dickensian. The cinematography relies heavily on tracking and dollying, while avoiding craning (presumably to hide the puppeteers and their arms up frog, pig, and gonzo assholes). Oh wait, I'm talking about a fucking movie with pirate muppets. IT WAS GOOD.

I've been reading the actual Treasure Island and I keep mentally interjecting muppets into it. This film has influence!

Is it weird to say that Kermit's performance was lifeless? Also, the songs were a real weak point as well. Such a waste of the always entertaining Tim Curry.

There was a faulty run of DVDs for Muppet Treasure Island when the film first hit the format, in which the disc would play The Muppets' Wizard of Oz instead. You can be sure that just about everyone who's given Muppet Treasure Island a bad review watched a copy from that batch.

While the start of its first act is a little forced and uninspired, Muppet Treasure Island proves to be an unpredictably hilarious pirate adventure.

The Muppet's take on treasure island brings the lovable characters into a world in which no one would have suspected would work. Thankfully the pacing and the humor are all on point. The self aware nature is delightfully absurd and the special and puppet effects are better than ever. Even the songs are catchy.

Rather unmemorable Muppets film. Despite the cool concept of mixing the Muppets with pirates, the excitement and adventure of it never comes through (I guess it's hard to make pirates bad-ass in a kids film). Not many good jokes, lame fight scenes, the Muppets aren't even that great, and the human characters (except Long John) are actually pretty terrible, especially that stupid kid.

I'm not sure how much there is really to say about it. It's a mediocre muppets film, passable as entertainment, but not great, and not quite as good as a Christmas Carol. Rizzo the Rat is as insufferably annoying as always, and for something from the 1990s there are some surprisingly outdated racist caricatures. This one in particular had a very low production value, which detracted from it's overall quality. Tim Curry was a joy.

Muppet Treasure Island will forever be sentimental to me as it was the first film I saw at the cinema. Before seeing this film, I used to watch 'Muppet Christmas Carol' all year round, so it was quite fitting the first film I'd see at the cinema was a Muppet film. This isn't considered to be one of the best Muppet films, but it's certainly one of my favorites. All of the characters, jokes and songs are as hilarious as ever and Tim Curry is great also. This is a definite childhood favorite.

I probably would have ranked this higher if the lead actor playing Jim Hawkins was more likeable. His silly fake-sounding falsetto was ridiculous. Tim Curry basically carries this movie - you can tell he's having a lot of fun. As far as post-Henson Muppet movies go, Muppet Christmas Carol is superior in every way. But this is not a bad film. It's definitely watchable, and way better than Muppets From Space.

Hilarious Muppet movie. Always been a fan of Muppet movies. Their tongue-in-cheek humor style always has me laughing. It's no blockbuster, and the boy actor is pretty awful, but Tim Curry can make any movie feel like a blast. Plus, Tim Curry sings! That's worth at least a 70, right??

There is no such thing as a bad Muppet movie, even without Jim Henson. The first five minutes are better than the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in every aspect.

Perfect film. Songs are brilliant, comedy is gold and TIM CURRY, he's so awesome. Only loses points for the kids sometimes annoying scenes (singing like a girl), Billy Connolly's performance (he can do better than this), and that it doesn't really stick to the plot of the book, but what Treasure Island film does?

A lesser Muppet movie, but it's still quite good. I'm not really a fan of Kevin Bishop, nor the original Treasure Island story; but there's plenty here to appreciate anyway. Lots of good songs, and a great role for Kermit.

Unlike some of the other Muppet movies, this one fails to provide much to anyone wanting something more than a movie for kids. It's hard to say it's thaaat bad since the majority of the population these days have had something in the way of "The Muppets" to grow up with. Watch it for nostalgia alone, but don't expect anything else.

Yeah!
