Star driven action movie starts with an amusing premise and a couple of charismatic stars, but ties itself in too many plotting knots for an hour, attempting to take the ridiculous premise seriously; once the action kicks in, it becomes more fun (the one-on-one house destruction is beautifully executed), but peters out in a nonsensical (and strangely abrupt) final act. Jolie and Pitt are both good company here, but generate surprisingly little chemistry together.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a harmless but incredibly average action/comedy. Ultimately this film solely relies and clings onto the casting of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie. And with the exception of a handful of enjoyable set pieces, this film has no other cards to play. The plot doesn't build towards anything particularly significant and the concept suffers from a real lack of care, originality & imagination. And the final third just wanders off into the abyss, not knowing how or when to end.

While on the surface this may seem to conform to the generic requirements of what Stanley Cavell calls a "comedy of remarriage", it soon becomes apparent that it is in fact a fantasy in which suburban tedium and corporate drudgery turn out to actually be delightfully shiny and excitingly deadly, until it eventually becomes even more apparent that the film is about absolutely nothing except gunfire. An occasional mild chuckle but some off-puttingly awful moments too. Soundtrack was unusual.

Perhaps Doug Liman had his legs up too much, thinking that high concept plus the hottest couple on Earth fighting plus Vince Vaughn would naturally make for a great movie. If so, you can't blame a film for being more misses than hits, seeing as there was no batter. And what's really the morale here? Killers have better sex?

Brad Pitt used to make really good movies. This..this is a huge steaming pile of crap. Angelina Jolie tends to make lousy movies no matter what, and the two of them together make a forgettable, rotten film.

I got this hoping for some no-brainer entertainment, and surprisingly, it delivered. Very well-paced, none of acts feel dragged out. Also liked the Blues Brothers homage. It could have been a lot better with more skilled actors, however. The husband-and-wife witty banter is done far too deadpan and ends up feeling forced, and Jolie has all the personality of a dead fish. Pitt's usually okay, but here his performance falls flat.

I loved this movie the first time, but was probably high af. Don’t watch this sober unless you’re on the wagon. If the latter, watch…like…12 Monkeys instead. All the surrealness, no withdrawal. If you’re still in party boi mode, for sure, load this up. It’s so dumb & nuts.

Ils sont excellents dans la distance, et dans les affrontements. Mais le scénario, les scènes d'action, ou les affrontements seuls, ne valent rien, et sont ennuyeux.

I don't know, I kind of liked this movie. I think it falls into the mindless fun category. Not every movie has to be a Kierkegaard essay. Pitt and Jolie have great chemistry and it shows on-screen. The movie features some really fun and exciting action sequences and the one-liners are all on point. Not a legacy film by any stretch, but it's fun and never boring, which often is a movie's worst crime.

The charisma and chemistry of the leads lift this out of being totally awful, but even that is not enough to fully overcome a poor, nonsensical story, mediocre screenplay, and some terrible action choreography (especially in the final scene in the store.) I get that it's purely a popcorn movie, but that doesn't mean it has to be this dumb. It's watchable, but that's about it.

Typical action movie with an interesting take on the dynamic. The action is done very well and it's pretty easy to follow, the acting is alright and they seem to be having a lot of fun with the film. It's got a few good laughs and the story is pretty average. Honestly it is a good movie to put on in the background or when you have a party going on. It's not bad by any means and is a lot of fun. Just don't expect this to be either of the actors best works. Just have fun!

An action movie. It sometimes felt like it didn't fully push the theme or the jokes all the way through, like skimming on top of what it could have been. The "we're enemies" often felt more entertaining than the "we are working together", so the excitement goes down a bit along the way.

Unsurprisingly given their imminent relationship and marriage, there is a lot of chemistry between the two leads that drives this high budget action rom com. Silly but entertaining, only the unnecessary and drawn out final act derails what was a solid crowd pleasing effort. And considering how real life turned out, now make a sequel where they split and REALLY try to kill each other. Box office gold!

Amounts to very little without the titular high-concept casting decision - in fact the film doesn't really function properly in a storytelling sense, and the written ending was scrapped entirely so don't expect any great plot pay-off. Anyway, it's the Brangelina show: witty banter, exploding scenery and their considerable talents ensured a repeatedly enjoyable popcorn flick. And hey, turns out good-natured Hollywood superstars can actually be a happy couple off-set, too. Good job casting room!

An excellent Spy vs. Spy movie until it gets a little long winded. I must admit there are two wonderful scenes in this movie. The first is the tense scene at the dinner table where Pitt suspects he's being poisoned. The second is the rough tango the two of them have in the restaurant after their first confrontation. The action is good and Pitt and Jolie play off each other well. Plus, they are just a good looking couple. I just wish this movie ended a half hour earlier than it did.

This was a quirky sort of movie: it had a lot more comedy than is normal for an action film. The beginning was slow and kind of boring - they took a good hour to present the storyline, which they could have done a lot more efficiently. Once the action started, though, it was intense and fast-paced.
