The plot itself is nothing other than ordinary, despite the possibilities presented by the time travelling. However, I was surprisingly pleased by how intelligent the comedy could be, making references that presumably go way over the heads of the target audience. It's not an out-of-the-blue unqualified success like The Lego Movie, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't laughing hard from time to time.

Passable. I laughed at times at the corny puns and the absurdity of the cliche plot mashed together with the time travel gimmick. There's nothing egregious about it, but it feels very rote and uninspired.

It's refreshingly intelligent, wry, and trustful of its audience. And it moves pretty fast. I was expecting it to be kinda deadening, so I have no complaints. No LEGO MOVIE, but cuter and more diverting than I expected. It'll do.

Great to watch with kids but forgettable like other non-Pixar CG. Nice mix of high and low brow humor. Whole movie felt like episodes stitched together with cameos, then in the final act they had to raise the stakes and make a cinematic experience and moral out of it. How old were these kids supposed to be? It was Sherman's first day at school but the girl was already discussing romances. Fav scenes: I love the puns but there were more than a few poop/fart jokes that landed.

Really enjoyable with likable characters and some funny set-peaces that work for both kids and adults.

Thankfully, I'm able to say "a tad" instead of "a lot." And so the bathroom humor doesn't swirl around everything, nor does it wash away the film's positive messages about family and friendship or drain it of its heart. Mr. Peabody & Sherman probably won't go down in history as an all-time classic. But it doesn't wholly embarrass its predecessor either. This new Wayback machine, as it travels to the past, will still trigger smiles in the future. (pluggedin.com)

It's a good film with lots of entertainment for the adults. The tricky thing is that I'm not sure who it's target audience would be.The historical references are way over the heads of most young kids and the time travel stuff would also be difficult for most of them. I'd say it'd be an absolute treat for intelligent 9-11 year olds.Younger than that they wont get a lot of it,older than that and I'd guess they'd be into other stuff.Still, I liked it!

As someone who grew up on the original cartoon series, I appreciated the general attempt to keep the spirit of the series by including terrible puns and blatant anachronisms. I saw the upgraded father/son relationship as an improvement. That said, this film is TERRIBLE at depicting decent female characters. Penny is a horrid brat, and Ms. Grunion is a nasty "fat bitch" stereotype. The original series was no bastion of feminism, but c'mon here.

So that dog, no matter how smart he is, is raising a kid around 10 years old. That leaves him with 4-6 years of his lifespan to have accomplished everything he's done? Also, I'm on board with a talking dog, a smart dog, a dog being allowed to adopt a human, a dog-invented time machine, and a dog that wears glasses. But come on, a bow tie? No thank you.

Excellent dry humor keeping it true to the old TV series. But unfortunately it goes over the heads of a lot of the younger members of the audience (below 7 or 8). But the story is fast paced, interesting and eye-catching so they enjoy it anyway. The best animated movie in several years. I didn't see it in 3D but it looks like it'd be good material for it.

Retains the spirit of the cartoon without losing the flavor of modernity. Genuinely funny, genuinely moving, just not particularly extraordinary.

Lively, witty, and surprisingly touching, Mr. Peabody and Sherman is a whimsically fun tale that is quite good, despite it's somewhat convoluted nature.

The animation was impressive, but the presentation was not always entirely satisfying. The characters looked like plastic, animations were overly exaggerated and the lighting was flat. Rampant over acting. The story was also convoluted. Many of the puns and jokes fell flat, but were trademark additions. Discounting the stylistic and story issues, it was mostly entertaining and fun to watch and does a lot of thing right for extending the original cartoon franchise.

Using time travel and having such a dull and ordinary plot is a waste. Also, trying to be funny but didnt manage to make me laugh hard more than once or twice.

Although it has its share of cheap kiddish humour, the wacky, fast-paced time-travel plot (featuring a good smattering of historical irony and charming caricatures-Warburton's meat-head Agamemnon is particularly great) and its unique lead (a brilliant, pun-dropping renaissance canine) generate enough laughs to keep all ages interested. Meanwhile, the "dog adopts a human" premise is fresh and witty, even though its emotional climax ("I'm a dog too!") swings and misses quite badly.

Occasionally funny and with a good sense of adventure, this movie manages to entertain on a superficial level, but has nothing else really going for it. It definitely passes the time, but I didn't found it to be as smart as some people make it out to be.

A series of time-travelling episodes peppered with terrible attempts at humor, driven by the threat of...a custody battle?? Because what a time travelling dog and boy needed for oomph was a custody battle! The threadbare plot sucks, giving no stakes to anything that happens as we aimlessly flow from locale to locale, suffering the same level of jokes too dumb for even children. It's got no pulse, this is just scraps thrown together. Not even my 3 year old could get into it.

this had the potential to be a really good family drama, an allegory for discrimination against gay people and their right to adopt, all while developing some nice father-son relationship which could've had a great arc,,,,,, but instead they chose to embark the characters on a bland adventure that led up to: nothing. It's not terrible but just so bland and disappointing considering what it could've been :( why can't peabody be a gay single father fighting against the homophobic grunion?

I enjoyed this more than it deserves, partially due to memories of watching the original series years ago. While the history lessons are witty, they zip by at a frenetic pace, which helps hide the fact that there isn't much of a plot or that the characters are ever really in danger. Some nice references to movies old and new (favorite line: Robespierre evoking Wizard of Oz: "And your little boy too!") but quite a few of them aren't likely to be recognized by the target audience.

Based on tv-series but perfectly watchable as a standalone movie cause it's all pretty self-explanatory. The plot is simple, although a bit episodic, probably a result from its comedy series origins, but the humor is spot on and Mr. Peabody is a delightful character.

I'm more generous with family movies. Some bits and lessons are pretty classic ones for kids' movies, but the way the story is told is pretty original and would amuse kids from the youngest to the ones a bit older. It's even *mildly* educative. It was interesting to see smart characters who are not automatically mean ones or treated as the butt of the joke

Surprised this didn't do better, as it's a comparable or better quality than some box office blockbusters. There is baseline humor for kids but plenty of dry wit for the adult as well.

This is pretty predictably enjoyable, especially for a young audience. The running gags and canine puns get a little thick eventually, but there's also some really funny moments to be found, and the animation is really solid. The movie's strongest segments are, of course, the time-travel segments, as a lot of the "real-world, Sherman-is-growing-up" stuff is nothing you haven't seen before (aside from the montage sequence, which was really good). And Robespierre getting tazed... still funny brah.

As a lifelong Rocky & Bullwinkle fan, I was very pleased to see Mr Peabody & Sherman again. It was generally a fun film but I could have done without the miserable mean spoiled girl Penny & the villainous social worker Miss Grunion, even a bitchy Mona Lisa! Penny's mother was the only semi-human female. Misogynistic screenwriter? I gotta wonder. The special effects for the Wayback Machine and Da Vinci's inventions were entertaining.

I enjoyed this update to the Rocky and Bullwinkle sketch Mr. Peabody and Sherman. There were times when I wished the story would have been more but it was fun and that is really what a kids movie should be. I liked the casting of this movie. The voice of Mr. Peabody did a fantastic job. Stephen Colbert was a surprise addition to the cast and I was tickled by his part in the movie. I am not sure that I would want this to become a franchise, but it was fun one shot movie nevertheless.
