A oriental mystery is always fun! One of Peter Lorre's Mr. Moto's, except it was originally meant to be a Charlie Chan film having to be re-written to suit Moto's wilder character. While not among his best, Mr. Moto in Danger Island (1939) entertains with buffoon Warren Hymer tagging along.

Originally a Charlie Chan movie before Warner Oland passed away, putting the charmless Moto in his spot is a letdown. I can buy a lot of things about old Hollywood, but Peter Lorre as a Japanese man is not one of them.
