Mountains of the Moon

A wonderful story but it certainly has it's problems. The score is generally atrocious and parts of the film drag on. Besides that is has some good adventure with great photography and acting.

The final moment is the best, as I recall.

History may have something to say about a few of the episodes, but overall it was an exciting romp through a beautiful country. Kind of like a 19th century Indiana Jones with less grave robbing & Nazi-shooting, and more supply bartering & lion-stoning.

Hard for me not to like a little exploration adventure film, i have a soft spot for the niche. Bergin is great, he creates a bombastic charisma perfect for his character. Glen aptly appears young and relatively inexperienced yet still very capable. Once they leave Africa the whole thing grinds to a stop and despite some historical accuracy its very dull. Theres a story to be told of the men's experiences on both continents...but maybe the stories aren't meant to be crammed into one film.
