A singer marries a famous composer, and after a while she gets the itch to go back on the stage. However, her husband won't let her. When she hears that a popular French singer named "Raquel" is coming to New York, she decides to go to Raquel with a plan--unbeknownst to her husband, "Raquel" is actually her sister, and her plan is for them to switch places so she can fulfill her dream of going back on the stage. Franchot Tone cheats on Constance Bennett with Constance Bennett! Well, Bennett plays a disappointed wife when her husband bans her from performing in a musical while the producers instead bring in a French star who looks just like her. The wife trade places with her blonding herself up and talking with a phony French accent and Tone falls for her. Bennett is electrifying, but the the rest reeks of mediocrity. But it's a Bennett vehicle so it was supposed to be all about her and few good songs.
