Moulin Rouge

Quite a different version than of the musical version! An awsome story-line, but I like the musical one a whole lot better. The difference between this one and the musical is the main charecter is a cripple and is a outstanding painter. He has a hard time finding love because of him being cripple which devastates him. In a way, I kinda feel his pain of me being hard of hearing and having a hard time find love. It was a sad situation on his part.

Moulin Rouge (1952) gives a very unique atmosphere. Very European feel. Filled with self-pity and gutter drama, it's more fascinating than great, but I got absorbed in it. You can say a lot about the casting, like Zsa Zsa Gabor and such, but to me i made the whole experience even more kitsch.

Moulin Rouge de John Huston estreava há 70 anos em Hollywood. Já tinha tentado ver esse filme uma vez e foi muito chaaaato, daí parei. Continua chato, mas hoje o vi inteiro e não é mesmo algo muito memorável do Huston, que a gente bem sabe ter uma carreira cheia de obras-primas. Me pareceu uma cinebio convencional demais, algo especialmente problemático em um filme que retrata a boemia parisiense. Chato, mas a fotografia é maravilhosa. DVD Versátil.

Absolutely gorgeous cinematography (oodles of dreamlike, technicolor imagery to be found) that's occasionally ruined when people try to act / tell this boring story.

Great looking movie. But in the end it seems too distant emotionally.
