Scattershot, but fun enough to not mind the randomness. Exotic islanders! Singing at eggs! Telepathic fairy twins! Godzilla wrecking shit by accident! He's either clumsy or (and I prefer this theory) drunk as shit. No wonder he was going for that egg. Breakfast omelette, baby! The finale, featuring two Eraserhead-like phallic larvae shooting strands of white goo on Godzilla for minutes on end, has made me reevaluate everything I hold sacred in my life.

Objectivity is impossible when it's your first. This is the kaiju flick that's had me chasing the dragon (or thirty story tall radioactive dinosaur) for ummm...we'll just say since the mid-80s. Anyway, it holds up, and I love GvsM... but I'm biased as hell..

Not great as far as kaiju films go. The best scene features Godzilla tripping and falling face first into a building.

Couldn't stand the twins until they went full corniness and started singing, which ironically enough was the only part that I liked earnestly. Mothra's a giant monster I want to like, but there's no reason Godzilla should have lost that fight.

To be honest, I can't stand lizards, and I've never not swatted at a moth, but I love singing twins...so...it's kind of a push.

I like how the majority of Godzilla's destruction depicted in this one is accidental. Overall a so-so flick but the musical score is exceptional.

More of a direct sequel to Mothra than a Godzilla film. One of the better kaiju films in the building destruction effects. The creatures look good except for Godzilla's face. The fairies are acceptable by now (why are they locked up in a box?). The plot with the theme park was decent but they built that entire enclosure overnight! Fav scenes: Godzilla waking up drunk and stumbling into buildings; Mothra battling Godzilla; Godzilla melting tanks; Mothra twins ducking behind cover between shots.

The weirdness of Godzilla never ceases to amaze me. This is another case of being amazed where this series was willing to go.

After having just finished Godzilla Raids Again this instantly feels like a giant step up. Most of the runtime is spent with a fun story about 2 reporters and a scientist trying to protect a giant egg from a couple villainous businessmen. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed watching the trio plus their colleagues work through this problem. They have really great chemistry. One of the side characters, a reporter that is always eating eggs in some form really cracked me up.

It's weird to specify levels of suspension of disbelief in reference to the Godzilla movies, but I can't for the life of me take anything about Mothra seriously. Those singing tiny twins are ridiculous, and so is the concept that an indestructible lizard with atomic breath can be taken down by a moth and two spider-web-slinging slugs. Of course, the indestructible lizard may always have been inherently ridiculous, but at least before the series tried to approach it with seriousness.

Amazing movie. The special effects are amazing for its time. The story is well done for a Godzilla movie and the fights are some of the best the Showa era had to offer.

This direct follow-up to _King Kong vs. Godzilla_ is easily the best of the sequels I have seen, with splendid effects and a plotline that's taken totally straight.

Godzilla contra a Ilha Sagrada estreava há 60 anos no Japão. Agora sim! YTS.

Godzilla in this is like a clumsy drunk - most of his initial destruction is oddly slapstick, he gets tail stuck in an antenna tower, then proceeds to trip and fall into Tokyo castle.

Pretty sure this was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw at age like 5 and it terrified me lol. 31 now and not exactly the greatest cinema haha.

I found this to be a mixed bag of electrifying and strange. I enjoyed watching how the citizens react and will never turn down an opportunity to hear the original Godzilla theme.

Didn't have the characters of the previous few, and the characters that did exist were mostly diet versions of the Mothra characters. The effects work keeps getting better though - very satisfying explosions.

The story and characters were uninteresting. While those clearly aren't the attraction of these movies and just there to fill the rest of the running time, the fight wasn't as ridiculous fun as last entry to totally make up for this shortcoming. Still the fight between the large lizard and moth was quite amusing. Noticeable is that Godzilla in his last outing as a villain is less a malicious force but more just clumsy mistakenly destroying stuff.

I went into this wondering if the "people plot" would ever get to the monsters -- half the movie is over before we see Godzilla. It turns out that the framing was the better part. Mothra is cool, but her baby larvae are a little unbelievable. It's still fun although long in parts.

Godzilla Vs. Motha is the perfect start for what the franchise was starting to become. Monster vs. Monster with a twist. In this case, a delightful fantasy-inspired tale. The songs are nice and the effects are still amazing.

Damn, my 1000th movie! Anyways, Godzilla vs Mothra, is actually one of the most slickly produced Toho films so far, and honestly it's pretty good. However, it doesn't deliver a lot of what one usually wants to see from one of their films. The fight is slow and strange compared to the other kaiju flicks, though I'd base on that on Mothra's distinct anatomy. All in all, it's not bad at all, but it's just not as fun King Kong vs Godzilla.

The human story is very well done. I like the idea of Godzilla being a result of human greed. The singing twins are pretty great. As for the monsters, Godzilla looks good here, despite having wobbly jowls. What's the deal with that? The fight between Mothra and Godzilla is nicely done, but the final fight is pretty lame, making Godzilla look the weakest he's ever been. Really, military missiles can't take him down, but silly string can? Still, this is a very solid early Showa era entry.

The story was better than expected, but how else could they fill up an hour and a half? Certainly not only with miniatures of godzilla destroying whatever he comes across. Every time i would see old godzilla roam across i could not help but giggle, it just looked so out dated. If only they showed him a litl bit less, for more effect. But none the less the story was compelling enough and the tricks on screen ( stop motion, rear projection) , tho not very original, were amusing enough.

A bunch of people argue over a mothra egg then BOOM a pissy clutzy Godzilla absolutely tears up the final act of the film. It needed more giant monsters at least teased in its first two-thirds. The bloody gunshot to the head murder was a bonus surprise.
