An ancient urn is found in a cemetery outside Rome. Once opened, it triggers a series of violent incidents: robberies, rapes and murders increase dramatically, while several mysterious, evil-looking young women coming from all over the world are gathering in the city... (imdb)

When an ancient urn is unearthed and opened, it unleashes a horde of evil witches upon modern day Rome, who can only be stopped by the daughter of a powerful white witch. A decent if typical latter day effort from Dario Argento, which is to say it has a handful of beautifully shot images, several scenes of tasty gore, and a monumentally stupid ending. Asia Argento is in this movie for more than an hour before she gets her tits out, which HAS to be some kind of record.

From Suspiria to this? Holy shit, what an embarrassing decline. This movie would be a total waste if it wasn't for the unintentional comedy and the intentional nudity. Really, it's pretty goddamn hilarious. It has a ghost-mommy wrestling with a burning man. The only recurring villain is a monkey. Its witches look like 80's glamrock singers. The movie's climax consists of a woman throwing a t-shirt on a fire. Amazing.

This has some decent ideas at its core, and starts brightly, but largely fails to fulfil its potential due to shoddy execution. We are treated to some interesting death scenes as expected in an Argento flick, ditto some decent camerawork, and there is a sense of threat which is allowed to build through the earlier segments. However, this is undone by a clumsy, exposition-heavy and slightly dull final third, and the ending gets a bit silly. See it for the gore and nudity, if you must.

There is a fine line between gonzo and goofy, especially in horror, and Argento lost sight of the difference decades ago. Vague echoes of his previous work are present, and the score tries desperately hard to tap into the feverish terror of yore, but it is ultimately a clumsy, cheap, cacophonous mess lacking in style and atmosphere, which are the only real reasons to watch Argento films. There are no memorable set pieces either, and Asia looks good until her lips move.

A heart-stabbing let-down from one of the great horror artists. The film effectively finishes the Three Mothers trilogy with an embarrassing whimper and shows us just how much times have changed for Argento and his style of making films. For a regular viewer this plays out like an amateurish exercise in bad taste, potentially hilarious in it's utter stupidity but with no real style or charm. For fans of the previous parts, it plays out like your worst nightmare, and not in a good way either.

Lackluster finish to the trilogy. Why did a guy from Europe name his daughter Asia?

Sadly, pretty much a piece of shit. Argento abandons his artful visual sense and obsessive, dream-like qualities for a dumb-as-fuck script and lazy TV aesthetics. However, taken as a tacky, bizarro spectacle, its hilarious and entertaining and its moments of shocking batshit insanity make it worth slugging through all the lame "Da Vinci Code" plotting.

A really weak Argento. Bad cast and a booooooring story on one side, some good gore effects on the other. But that's not enough for a 100 minute Movie, I'd like to turn off after half an hour. Disapointing in many ways

How far the mighty have fallen. What begin with Suspiria ended up in 2007 with a mediocre gorefest. It would have made a fairly entertaining horror-adventure game--in fact the script seems like that's exactly what it was intended for--but as a movie it's ultimately forgettable.

The final installment of the Three Mothers trilogy is a big disappointment, which isn't unusual for sequels that come 27 years after their last iteration. It's not the worst thing ever, but gone are the fun lighting (where are all the reds and blues of Suspiria and Inferno?) and the soundtrack is generic. There are a few fun sets and scenes, but this is part of the series in name only and because it's tied to some of the characters and mythos, because it feels nothing like the other two.

The mythology of a long-awaited trilogy finale runs up against the unfortunate dissipation of Argento's most special qualities. No one is watching Argento for his scripts, and yet the story here is so coherent and cliched it's kind of unsettling. Like waking up from the dreamlike state of Suspiria/Inferno, back into the world of logic and "standard" gore. I usually don't care about plot holes but the massive build to a final showdown culminating in throwing a robe in a fire was too much for me.

Still trying to capitalize on the success of his one masterpiece, Argento turns it into what he calls the "Three Mothers trilogy" with this second sequel, which is really just an affront to the original, Suspiria. It is terrible from script to acting. Some of the gore effects are good and some are bad, but the splatter in general seems gratuitous and contrived. The one saving grace is we get to see Israeli model Moran Atias in an impressive full frontal nudity as the Wicked Witch of Rome.

the good thing about this movie is that there is lots of gore and nudity. The gore is really good with clevers to the face and limbs being chopped off. The nudity is sexy as hell and Mr. Argento even films a pointless shower scene of his real life daughter. Thanks bro. unfortunatly though inbetween said gore and nudity the movie is boring as hell. No one can act and dario throughs in random demons that dont have any point being in this film. Weird but not terrible...

Borderline unwatchable. If Moran Atias wasn't parading around nude or semi-nude throughout all of her scenes, there would be no point in watching Asia Argento overact to the point that she induces insanity in people that view this film. I was never bowled over by Dario Argento to begin with, but this is awful.

I do love Italian giallo films. And especially Dario Argento's stories (don't forget he did the story for western classic Once Upon the Time in the West). Dario used to made his daughter Asia to do some questional things in his movies - not much in this time. La Terza Madre is not perfect story, but it has it's hights. Mostly I did not like cheap computer effects. Gore was ok.
