A story of a mother who kills to keep from losing her son. First death comes to music-hall girl romanced by Victor Mature. Latter is seen leaving the girl's room by Peggy Cummins, who protects Mature in turn for his taking her to visit his mother at a country estate. Neat little British noir about a woman who blackmails a man not for money, but for an introduction to high society. The ultimate solution is a bit silly and can be seen coming from quite a ways away, but Cummins is quite good and a very young Vincent Price is here in a fairly straightforward role. Ethel Barrymore is also perfectly cast. Enjoyable.

Moss Rose (1947) is definitely a murder mystery which has a lot going for it, but at the same time one can't help feel that it could have been handled better. Especially with Victor Mature's character. Doesn't stop him from being the MVP of this film, and that's just the vibe of this one.

A murder mystery with a twist, I was surprised to hear a young Vincent Price's voice.
