Mosquita y Mari

Probably the best queer coming-of-age film I've seen. Pineda and Troncoso are peerless as the titular characters dealing with working-class struggles, immigrant family, and desire.

Although its themes are quite familiar and predictable, the Kickstarter-funded film is shot in a nice way with natural, lingering camerawork. The teenagers give good performances, better than the adults. It's a short feature and could perhaps do with a little more depth, but it's very watchable and a great calling card for some of the talent involved. I do think Guerrero will go on to have future success with a wider audience.
