Morænen

A Danish film set in the dark and rural settings of Norway and drenched in depression. Goes too hard at work to make that gloomy atmosphere. It almost got in the way of the plot. That's why it takes a while for Morænen [The House of Shadows] (1924) to get interesting. It took a murder late in the film to focus the film and finally set its characters free of the darkness they'd been trapped in. Both story and style wise. While not perfect. this was definitely a interesting Scandinavian creation.
