A murder mystery set at the opera, one of many movies with that theme in the mid-30s. And this stars Chester Morris as a overly eager police detective who keeps messing up because he gets distracted by falling for laboratory professor Madge Evans. Tightly paced mystery with plenty of suspects and hopeless characters to bring the smile. Morris has got the presence, Robert McWade as his boss brought the laughs and Evans had the looks. And thats all one need for these MGM programmers.
