Something about Monty Python live that bugs me oh wait it’s the crowd, sitting next to some screaming Python fan who knows the words to every skit but has forgotten basic hygiene.

I adore Python and their comedy is just as brilliant live, but I can't help but feel that the presence of an audience destroys the magic. It's snobbish, I suppose, but a whooping crowd predicting every punchline reduces Python's genius to trite catchphrasery, and it's a real shame.

The audience is an incredibly lame bunch of bandwagon jumping protocosplay nerds. They're like the 70's equivalent of Chris Hardwick's demo. The skits themselves are a pretty well-done greatest hits package. It would be a great Python starting point, if not for that insufferable gaggle of dorks that made (make) up their audience.

Excellent collection of sketches performed (as the title may suggest) by Monty Python at the (as the title might also suggest) Hollywood Bowl. It's great fun! It's the masters at work! And it's live! (except it's not)

A fine greatest hits collection of some of their best work. If I had a time machine I would go back to be in the audience for this.

Watching the old show live, nothing surprising. Not sure if I would get excited if I watched it really live but I haven't. Still, Monty Pyhton is Monty Pyhton.

Yeah, it's Python and they're great. But it's Python translating old skits onto the stage, which is one step removed from great. I guess you had to be there, judging by the crowd.

This is by all means an amazing collection, given that was all made live -- the sports skits, the argument routine, all the songs work well, the cross-dressing law men, the history of jokes. Even the ones that don't seem to click or try too hard point to an overall greatness in self-conscious, ironic, we-know-this-is-a-joke-but-let's-laugh-anyway comedy concept.

I loved the show back in the day. But this is just a rehash of some of the more famous but still quite stupid skits. I was not really impressed at all by being able to watch the same old stuff performed yet again, even if it was in person. I don't remember getting a single laugh this time. Oh, and there is of course the Albatross. Pretty lame.

It's great to see the sextet bring its comedic powers to the stage in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The musical numbers by Neil Innes feel like a missed opportunity from a comic standpoint and not all material is top-notch, yet this 1982 concert film bears the troupe's DNA a la Flying Circus and includes some of their finest sketches (Colin "Bomber" Harris, The Last Supper, The Ministry of Silly Walks, Argument Clinic, Comedy Lecture and of course the prerecorded Philosophers' Football Match).

Some of the best skits from Monty Python translated from video to stage seamlessly, likely due to their theatrical background. However, I cannot forgive Eric Idle replacing Michael Palin in the Lumberjack sketch.

Great stuff, and most of the sketches are just as funny here as they were in the show.

Although not all of their skits lend to a live format, the ones that do are energetic and a blast.

Many good laughts and sketchs unbeatable, but as an entirety not as funny as I was expecting. The basic Monty Python vibe was there anyway.

The Pythons always been very funny, here is no different. This live performance, has several quick gags and very funny, simply unmissable.

Probably the best bit is Cleese, in the audience, admonishing someone: "you're not supposed to be smoking that." A very stoner kind of vibe.

Entertaining enough, but just a retread of already famous sketches minus the censorship, nothing new.
