You can say one thing for systemic sexism: at least it kept women directors from being pulled into the most ignoble filmmaking trend of my lifetime: the post-PULP FICTION Tarantino ripoff. This is the rare (sole?) exception, as well as the only one I know with a female lead. Which is to say it sucks just a little more that it sucks just as much as 2 DAYS IN THE VALLEY. I like a good caper movie. Layer upon layer, betrayal begets betrayal. This fits the bill quite nicely. Kyra Sedgwick and Stanley Tucci have such a great chemistry together. This is bloody almost in a Peckinpah or QT way, but it doesn't detract from the film. No, it's not Layer Cake or Reservoir Dogs, but it is a good representative of the same genre. (side note: Sedgewick reminds me a of a young Sally Kellerman, but I think Kyra will end up being the better actress.)
