Mixed Doubles

The shot of Tamako drunkenly stumbling towards her love interest with her wheeled suitcase awkwardly following after her is such a work of hilarious framing that it's disappointing how much the film falters after that. The movie really wants you to feel sad for the main characters when they're at their lowest point, even though it hadn't even established them all that well. If only the film had just maintained the goofy tone of its first few scenes...
