I love the mental world of both Boris Barnet & Fyodor Otsep. They were Russian film makers against the political trends, taking inspiration from western culture and making some highly memorable films. And here they team up to make a crazy 4 hour crime story with all types of influences! Besides all the crazy stuff of death bacterias and scheming, this film had a excellent caricature of a badman. Sergey Komarov as Tchitche! A man you'd love to hate! A must-see silent from old Soviet.
