A slight comedy that is, essentially, a LONG TV show that feels like a warm-up for "I Love Lucy"...here, she's an incompetent secretary in way over her head, who somehow manages to run circles around everyone else. William Holden is actually a good foil for her, and the final showdown scene is really quite funny. There are some entertaining fruity lines here and there, like the immortal "I'm always in for Dick!" (Janis Carter's response to "It's Dick--are you in?" when he telephones).

The thing is, I should have loved Miss Grant Takes Richmond (1949) a lot more. Lucille Ball, James Gleason & Frank McHugh, all people that make me laugh every time I see them. And they didn't disappoint this time either. But there was something about this messy plot that wasn't as funny too me. Might have been a mood thing because of my roof dripping thanks to a swift temperature change. Or maybe just the result of it being a very average comedy production.
