Mimosas

Interesting piece of work, although I'm not sure I connected with it on as many levels as it possessed. The central story about a mysterious "guardian angel" figure sent to help a small posse get through some mountains had promise, and the progress of the group, along with the relationship between the three men, provided something concrete to latch onto. Then there are all these subtexts, like loyalty, freedom, religion, the city people. Most of which was lost on me. Slow but with some ok parts.

I love the initial drive of director and his aim to create a totally different world but the inner logic of plot, break of time-space in a transcendence should always be accaountable for simple reality checks. Cause otherwise, in the name of a slow search of moments of ecstasy, audience is left with nothing but a bunch of arbitrary events. Why not instead, liberate the narrative totally, if "experience" is the ultimate aim? And it stinks of orientalism. Who are you to exploit a foreign culture?
