Million Dollar Arm is a "feel-good" movie if you can look past how easy everything in its story is, how predictable it is from start to finish, how poorly written its characters are, and how it plays out like it was made by people who read the real-world story on Wikipedia and decided to film exactly that. It doesn't feel real. It comes across like something that you'd show to preschoolers because showing them anything else might scare them too much.

Sugary sweet formulaic nonsense, but I love baseball, so average score it is.

I love baseball. I used to write about it quasi-professionally. I think the world of "Mad Men". Top 10 All-Time show for me. And yet, I had zero interest in this. Goaded into it by my wife, looking for a feel-good story. I unsuccessfully argued for "Grizzly Man", and got stuck with this. Look, it's inoffensive. It made her happy, and I'm sure that was its goal, so mission accomplished. But this is just not my thing. I like my underdog stories with some grit. Alan Arkin, you are no Uncle Paulie.

Another Disney production in the likes of "Invincible". I was entertained throughout. - Good

Sweet and Inspirational, Million Dollar Arm is falls in just above the "feel good movie" category by its intriguing premise (based on a true story) and setting. Well acted and well produced; a good movie.

An old-fashioned, straight-up crowdpleaser drama, with few to zero bells and whistles. It's good at what it does, though: this uplifting tale of a baseball agent seeking out talent in cricket-obsessed India is funny and warm, and Jon Hamm's lead performance is exemplary.

Adheres pretty heavily to the Disney sports movie template--no surprises, not much conflict, earnest and obvious to a fault. But I liked it. It's likable. It's sentimental. It's nice. It's one of those movies you take your dad to. Can't help it; I got into it.

Not going to blow you away on any level, but definitely still a cute movie. Thrown off by the fact that this is a Disney production (which puts me in the mindset that it will be completely kid-friendly), yet there are a few scenes that are decidedly not kid-friendly (2 drunk scenes, 1 collection of scenes where sex has clearly occurred). Hamm does well with a blase script, but the film is somewhat salvaged by the fact that it's all based on a true story.

Old-fashioned in a disappointing way...weirdly paternalistic. Jon Hamm gives a performance that is mildly engaged at best and hung-over at worst.

Formulaic and cliche. Not every movie needs a romantic angle and this one just shoehorned it in.

Once you know the premise, this is exactly what you think it is, nothing more, nothing less.

You smile and cheer in the end just as you hope and expect, but it was still honest and had the right amount of sugar-coat. And the actors actually looked like the real people. *Recommendable

Decent enough sports movie, well acted by its leads. It's as predictable as they all are but seeing as it's a true story that's not something that you can really complain about

Good! Nothing super wrong with the movie. Some of the story telling devices they use are a bit tired.

this movie was okay, but it doesn't suck you in until the last 5 minute. Jon Hamm does not have much screen presence. Another actor could have made this screenplay more passable.

What I learned from this film is that all it takes is for your agent to go through a personal awakening and finally acknowledge that sports are all about fun rather than business, and voila! - you're pitching well enough for major league baseball.

How many times can Jon Hamm look culturally surprised in 2 hours? Look no further to find out. Disney likeable, but only just.

It's still a little like watching that last-minute game-winning homer after sitting all day in a bad spot at the ballpark. You still cheer. You still smile. But you kinda wish you could have seen the game without enduring all those rude comments from the raucous guy behind you who had too many beers in his belly. (pluggedin.com)
