A by-the-numbers family movie that takes zero risks but remains pleasant enough, thanks mostly to good voice acting, better-than-average animation, and a brisk run time.

As routine and generic as a modern family animation possibly can be. Hits all the standard tropes on its thankfully fairly brief runtime and lacks any genuine creativity. Even so, it bobs along harmlessly and inoffensively whilst it lasts and is well voiced and scored. It’s a film that takes absolutely zero risks and contains nothing memorable. But, it entertained the kids and isn’t worthy of any hate given it’ll be forgotten about in a few years.

Migration was so uneventful that the duck family could have just stayed at the pond.

It felt like a project to showcase their work. The plot was a series of generic points you'd see in many cartoons. Animals in the city, clueless cult, chef who wants to eat the animals, family travel filled with conflicts, learning to be brave, and so on. What did shine was the animation though. It was fluid, colourful, it had the cartoony motions and distortion of models made for dynamic effects most 3D movies lack. The light was pleasant and realistic. Nice voice acting. Kids might like it

A safe family movie that felt incredibly generic. Some decent voice acting, but pretty average on the whole. Glad it was pretty short. 4.8

Dodges the worst cliches of the family animation genre, and gets a decent amount of extra goodwill for the great character animation.

Despite the Minions opening the film with the studio logo, Migration is an alright ride that has tolerable characters, a familiar plot and not a lot else. The voice acting is okay, though some of the celebrity voices are too recognisable. At 80 minutes, it's not a long film, but it doesn't really achieve much as the concept of anthropomorphised ducks falls apart at almost every joke. Watchable, but forgettable.

Maybe I’m just being a grouch, but can we please call a moratorium on the mandatory dance sequence that seems to end every post-SHREK animated movie? Otherwise, this is a blandly inoffensive kid's film that suffers from a lurching, episodic plot that ironically doesn’t seem to have much of an idea of its destination - though with the likes of DeVito, Kane and Awkwafina having fun with their characters, and effective use of its very attractive widescreen animation, it almost doesn't matter.

It's nice that Illumination made an original film instead of yet another sequel. Concept was promising, but it just doesn't take flight. Visually it's fine; beautiful forests and I appreciated the scope of the city segment. Everything else is mediocre; nothing stands out and none of the gags generated any laughs from the audience. It's a pity that such a big production is so utterly generic, and it makes you appreciate films like Pixar's Elemental - flawed as it was, at least aimed much higher.

A cliche plot with familiar themes, but it's a very breezy adventure with some solid laughs and surprises.

Couldn't have thought that a movie on ducks could be enjoyable. It was.

Plenty cute and filled with humor, but the evil chef ruined a lot of it for me. Wish they'd found a different action point than that geek. But the little sister brough enough small adorable bits to keep a constant smile.

A run of the mill, inoffensive little movie. Stuff just happens as the plot moves forward without much care for any narrative impact. It's one of Illumination's best, if that's worth anything.
