Balagueró is one of the most interesting up-and-coming horror directors working today. It hasn't led to another sleepless night, but I was definitely biting my nails in suspense at the wonderful natural interplay of events on screen, which provided the film with an atmosphere so subtly overwhelming it was almost tangible. Too bad this isn't maintained in its misguided soap opera-ish 3rd act. Still worth seeking out for sense of dread is inspires, Tosar's performance and the sweet cinematography

This terribly unsettling film shows again that true horror is not about showing gore, it's about psychology. During the film, you often wonder how bad a person can be... only to watch the boundaries broken again. Tosar is fantastic as the janitor and rightly collected a number of Spanish film awards, and he and director Balagueró are certainly worth following.

Cesar, played by Luis Tosar, is one of those characters that will stick in your mind. He's a ruthless but not invincible psychopath. This doesn't make him any more human though...

Effectively disturbing thriller that knows suspense is built through a steadily unsettling atmosphere and that there is no need for constant shock and gore. It stands head and shoulders above most horror films that gets made these days. I was quite impressed with the film that I'd even forgive the weak ending.

Kompletnie sie tego nie spodziewalem - znakomity thriller. W swoim gatunku zdecydowanie wybija sie ponad przecietnosc.

Tosar is an effective lead and the concept is interesting/creepy, but there isn't a lot hiding under the surface. A few suspenseful moments, but weak resolutions.

This isn't anywhere near as scary as [Rec] or To Let, but I actually appreciate Balagueró's readiness to use a more subdued, even reserved script. The villain in Sleep Tight is not a cold-blooded, fearless, superhumanly strong or sneaky psychopath, as one has come to expect from this type of thriller. The sense that he is a twisted, but "real person", often on the brink of miserable failure, makes his sinister exploits a lot more intriguing.

Pretty disgustingly creepy. I mean, that makes a good horror / thriller I guess. But some things are just hard to watch. Well done on the pacing, story and acting!

A repulsive and unnervingly realistic portrayal of an obsessive psychopath. Brutal and tense from beginning to end. Basically an updated, Spanish-version of Psycho with a dash of I Stand Alone mixed in. Watch and prepare to be disturbed.

Creepy, calculated thriller in which an otherwise normal concierge invades women's personal space while they sleep. The script seems clever at first but it soon boils down to your basic horror tropes: cute girl in skimpy clothing, sociopathic rapist hiding under her bed with a bag of syringes. The plot quickly spirals into nonsense, but the worst part is we are never allowed to understand the protagonist's motives. A fairly basic thriller which coasts by on artificial suspense and clean looks.

Reminiscent of The Resident, but a whole lot better. A creepy, jaw-dropping slow-burn of a classic horror flick, imbued with an unsettling feeling of disturbance shot through every frame. Cesar, the movie's central character, should go down as one of the psychological thriller genre's icons, so distressing is his personality.

Tame compared to what us Americans are used to seeing in our horror, but you can't deny how well executed this movie is. Cesar is a great character, and there are one or two scenes that really get under my skin. This won't appeal to gore hounds and torture porn fanatics, but for those who appreciate a more character driven thriller, this one will satisfy.

This movie started really great but slid away little by little. Still a really well made movie and great acting. I think the horror is in the things this guy does.. Man, way creepy..

Subtle, haunting. As the suspense builds throughout the film, a sense of dread washes over like a cool wave leading up to a justified "weak" finale (as some have called it). At the end, the viewer is left with a sense of hopelessness, which is what should be the real epitome of any good horror/psychological thriller film.

Absolutely wonderful creep-fest. The anti-protagonist thinks himself a Hannibal Lecter, and his adversary unwittingly "fights" back with nothing more than the strength of her charactrer. This is a movie Hitchcock would be proud of...if he were a much creepier dude. Outstanding!

i haven't got the slightest clue why he did all of these things. i mean what's the point of showing the mother if you won't link her situation to the main matter. was it a red herring or a gap in scenario? who knows...
