Mickey's Christmas Carol

A fantastic 30-minute version of the well-known Dickens story, full of heart, humor, and real emotion. Far better than the feature films Disney was producing at this time.

For some reason re-watching this in April and I am instantly put in a Christmas spirit. Wish I'd watched this at Christmas, when I didn't really have any.. In any case this must be one of the most charming, lovable and heartwarming animated shorts I've seen. Yes, I know the story is well old, but this makes that a moot point. Anyone who can watch this and not feel at all moved is dead inside.

There are so many different versions of this classic Charles Dickens story, but along with 1951's "Scrooge," this is my favorite telling. Even as someone who isn't a huge Mickey Mouse fan, I thoroughly enjoy this moving adaptation told in the wonderful way that only Disney is capable of! Alan Young as the voice of Scrooge is terrific as always.

Mickey is masterful and really earned his ears in this film. An All-Star Cast, and really a good shorter version of the famous holiday flick.

Has some nice animation, but feels terribly rushed, especially closer to the end. I wish it was more contemplative.

The part Scrooge McDuck was born to play and it's surprisingly it took them this long for him to play it. There's an epic feel to this short that goes well beyond its budget and running time. This really goes a long way to capture what's great about the old Disney while maintaining a close hold on Dickens' story and the Christmas season. Recommended for the kid in all of us.

I'm pretty much incapable of viewing this objectively, since I was exposed to it so early in childhood and it's practically designed to induce nostalgia. That being said, it does a wonderful job of capturing the emotionality annd morality of the classic in a compact and delightful short.

Can't really go wrong with this.

Now this is what a cartoon is supposed to be. Easily the best adaptation i've seen of the Dickens classic, and it's very very very well done.

Familiar characters in familiar roles makes for a familiar, but pleasant, adaptation of the well worn story.

Scrooge: "My partner, Jacob Marley, dead seven years today. Oh, he was a good'n. He robbed from the widows and swindled the poor. In his will, he left me enough money to pay for his tombstone. Huh, yet I have him buried at sea!"

Warm and bubbly festive fluff.

Compact but surprisingly solid and well-wrought transposition of Dickens to Disney uses brevity to its advantage, ensuring that the potentially sticky elements of the tale don't have the time to descend into sentimentality. Perhaps it would always be difficult to portray a full 180 degree character change in under half an hour, but Scrooge's transformation is still credible and quite moving, in its own modest way. Deserves its place along side the top adaptations of this story.

I've seen countless adaptations of Dickens' immortal tale and this is definitely one of my favorites.

You know your adaptation is in good hands when it's adapted with Disney characters in the roles

Like if you cry every time

Saw this many times growing up. It's not the best version of A Christmas Carol but there's way worse and it's only 26 minutes.

A decent adaptation, mostly because scrooge is a fun character and it does away with all the fluff, stripping the story to a short and sweet little morality play.

This just might be my favorite version of A Christmas Carol.

It's sweet and silly and a well-made retelling.

Has some good moments, but Mister Magoo did it better.

Surprisingly well done considering it's very short run time and the fact I'm not a Mickey Mouse fan. It manages to hit all the key points of the Christmas Carol story and while it's not as fun and entertaining as The Muppet Christmas Carol it's enjoyable none the less.

This version is just really fun. I love how gleeful Scrooge is.

It's cool seeing John Lasseter buried in the animator credits, like seeing a famous actor in one of his first roles.

Yet another Christmas Carol movie, but with Disney characters instead of something like muppets or Bill Murray; better to just choose your preferred dressing on the underlying story and watch that.

Fine cartoon telling of the classic tale.

This was fucking excellent when I was a kid, I wish I could track it down again.

It's clearly abbreviated but the story is actually told fairly faithfully.
