Julia Robert's accent is the only thing that stops this from getting a 100. Very well done, very well acted, fairly historically accurate (as far as a dramatic movie can get) and just...good.

Neil Jordan masterpiece, from out of nowhere! I was really not looking forward to this movie for a number of reasons (historical biopic over two hours long by a director who I'm not a big fan of), but I was thoroughly entertained by it from start to finish. Jordan's relentless pacing is breathtaking, it's desperately sad but never sentimental, and Neeson gives one of the best and most charismatic performances I've ever seen. He, and the movie, never stop moving. It's beautiful to watch.

What a story. Really captures the intensity and tumult of the times. I kind of wish this film was longer, as the condensed length makes it a bit choppy at certain points. Also, Julia Roberts was disappointing in this. Still, very well done. I learned a lot.

Julia Roberts almost single-handedly ruins it.

Well-made historical drama. Jordan is smart enough to banish Julia Roberts to the sidelines so that she doesn't do too much damage (a common trait of the few good films in which Ms. Roberts appears)

It's alright, but unfortunately doesn't really make it's way over average. The cast is very impressive though. Far too long for it to really be worth watching, unless you're particularly interested in the subject.

It's a lovely movie covering Irish independence, with good acting from all the principals. The music and cinematography is good as well. The pacing is good, it moves right along. People will grouse about Julia Roberts but I think she's fine.

I must say that the cast is alright, the story too, but the movie is truly too long and too dramatic. Given, the subject is intense, but Michael Collins is a little over the top. Maybe the movie will be better to those who are particularly interested in the matter. 53/100

Decent enough film with plenty to hold your interest in this hagiography of Collins but if you know a bit of the history the many inaccuracies will set your teeth on edge

Very good for what it is: a blunt, hagiographic retelling of history.

Surprisingly aimless direction from Neil Jordan, a bland Neeson performance that captures nothing of either the charm or the infuriating bully boy nature of Collins, and Julia Roberts is woefully out of place. In fact, the only things I like about this movie are 1) Alan Rickman's spot-on performance as the cold and calculating De Valera and 1) the recreation of the British armored car attack on Croke Park.

Decent movie, if a bit one dimensional and androcentric.

Neeson gives an excellent performance as Michael Collins. A truly gripping political drama with top notch acting.

Good cast with the exception of Roberts who stuck out like a sore thumb. I'm interested in the topic so that probably made it better but overall a great film.
