Mexican Spitfire at Sea

Comedy is subjective & comedy that relies on implausible situations and behavior is probably even more so. You either laugh at the absurdities or you find it too ridiculous. So far, this series continues to hit my funny bone just right. & while I may have laughed a bit less at this one, I quickly had a big grin on my face just imagining all the thought the writers clearly put into crafting future misunderstandings & mix-ups w/ returning characters. They criss-cross & overlap in dazzling ways.

The title should have been "The Adventures of Lord Epping" as Leon Errol's dual role dominated most of this franchise. I don't mind, as it might be the best role Errol did in his career, but it often gets too chaotic and repetitive, doing the same shtick over and over for each film, with not enough Lupe Velez. Mexican Spitfire at Sea (1942) ended up being one of the better ones. I really loved the absurdity of everyone pulling faces at Zasu Pitts! Just look at Marion Martin mug!
