Metastases

Middling portrait of low-level crime attempts to add fire by presenting the stories of its protagonists RASHOMON style, but the splitting of the narratives adds no depth or resonance to their stories, feeling like a long game effort to mark time until the mini-explosion of crime in the final act. Drops some interesting observations of the sociopolitical atmosphere, but doesn’t follow up on any of them – performers are adequate, but don’t create any characters who will live on in the memory.

It ends pretty abruptly and it did raise a few questions (story-wise) at the end with a knot or two left untied, but I still find it's possibly the best Croatian movie I've seen. Bitorajac and Ugrina are simply incredible, with the rest of the cast up to the task. See it.
