Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar

Unwatchable if you liked the series. Most of the time is spent on a badly written plot. The stupid jokes, the constant music providing ambiance and rhythm, self-deprecating humor, the satirical personal backstories, the over-the-top gore - all of the good things about the series, mostly gone, in favor of anime graphics and a sleep-worthy plot. Remember the ground-rule: "Show, don't tell"?. Well, this is 95 % tell and it bores the living shit out of me.

Pretty big step down in quality from the show, especially in terms of humor. And definitely the worst of the recent Adult Swim movies. But still kind a works as a finale. It takes some time to get good, but that climax was a great way to end the show.

Watching this without having watching the series. While I'm not technically a metal guy, I've spent parts of my life around death metal friends, and then there is the 80s(ish) aesthetic, so there was something cozy about this. Not a perfect composition, but got it's cool bits.
