The legendary Sarah Bernhardt! This is only the 3rd film I've seen her in (the other two being Le duel d'Hamlet (1900) and Les amours de la reine Élisabeth (1912) and I would say it's the best of that small selection. A very heavy melodrama, and since it was the 1910s, it drifts into all-tragedy, which was the norm. Not exactly a exciting movie, but the acting is good and you see what kind of stage presence Bernhardt had, even after having turned 70.
