Got its quirks, but it's undoubtedly a precoder. This reversed Pygmalion scenario which takes some abrupt turns you wouldn't expect from any other time. Simple and effective scandal focusing on Charles Bickford the bootlegger and Lois Moran, a lady of society. F. Scott Fitzgerald's former lover didn't last much longer in Hollywood and was done the same year. I felt she did fine here, though it was really Bickford that was driving the picture forward. Wonder why this one escaped me for so long?
