Melvin Goes to Dinner

Feels very amateurish in terms of filmmaking, but the script and the characters have a lot to offer. The conversations are funny, insightful, silly and revealing.

Nice concept but for me the characters were too narcissistic to tolerate, add to that the seedy subject matter, boring yarns, and tumbleweed plot twist and you have a very unlikeable film. There was one laugh out loud moment 27 minutes from the end which involved a discussion on anal sex.

Who knew Flo the Insurance Lady was a pretty good actress? Maybe not up there with the great Just Some People Talking movies like My Dinner with Andre or 12 Angry Men, but not far off.

A much more fun movie than you'd think "a bunch of people talking" would lend itself to. Probably the best place to see Stephanie Courtney act in a non-Flo context.

Extremely boring, and Alex is annoying.. The acting was good, except for the waitress. *yawn*. But hey, Jack Black is in it..!

This sort of movie/play is just not my cup of tea. Watching people sit around a table talking for an hour and a half? No thanks.

Really simple concept with convincing acting. It's terribly short and I'm not sure if that's a blessing or a curse. Do you like people sitting around and talking? Well that's what this is. I liked it. I don't think it's even close to being necessary viewing but it's pure film making, anyway.
