Médecin de campagne

Inoffensive, middling drama about a middle-aged rural doctor who may have to retire and starts training his successor. Handles life-or-death issues with a mixture of compassion and detachment, while setting up a contrast of the two styles of physician: up-to-date big city skills, versus local knowledge and social awareness. Acting is good all round (esp. Cluzet), script is fine. A harmless, not entirely charmless film for those who like to philosophise on the latter end of the human journey.
