Meatballs III: Summer Job

The first and only "Meatballs(1979) "sequel" to have any connection to the original film is disappointingly just another forgettable cheap 80's sex comedy. Replacing summer camp with a summer job on the river, the first one with an 'R' rating, unfortunately also replaced things like the "Mac and Me"(1988)-esq 'kids befriend an alien' subplot with boobs, and while you know, I get it...boobs! Still instead of goofy quirks and charms, we get a campy premise squandered with bottom shelf 80's comedy.

Thankfully Kellerman was in Back To School in 1986, which used her comedic talent and natural charm to full effect. She is OK here, but there really isn't much she can do when saddled with such a poor script under the unwatchful eye of Mendeluk, who couldn't direct traffic. The premise had potential for high sleaze, but Meatballs III is a strangely neutered, laugh free comedy that isn't a patch on the better sex comedies of the 80's, which are already disresputable to begin with. Avoid.
