Massacre at Central High

One of the most unique movies of its era & possibly of its kind, a suburban 70's Lord of the Flies that plays out, intentionally or not, a lot like a weird fever dream. The characters are all pretty one note, the acting is just above bad, & the writing is as lazy as it gets, but despite all of those flaws- among others- this somehow stays interesting the whole way through. The moral, muddied as it may be, is as relevant now as it was then. If you haven't seen this yet, give it a look.

The new kid in school David stands up to the rich jerks who terrorize everyone and they respond by crippling him, so he murders them all. Instead of creating a Utopia, this only results in a power vacuum at the school, and some of the previously bullied kids begin to fill the roles of the mean jerks, forcing David back into action. Pretty different take on the high school revenge film, it's got some novel kills and a decent amount of nudity. Plus a young Robert Carradine playing a goofy hippie.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, '70s exploitation classic, cult following, etc., etc., but it's still quite dull, really. _Heathers_ (which I saw after this) actually does the same basic story, but much better

The absolute best speedrun of morality, revenge, and face-heel turns. Don't be fooled by the start — the setup happens quick, the comeuppances quicker, and then it just k e e p s g o i n g !!! It's an old movie so the kills and the FX aren't that notable, but they're often harder than they need to be, which just adds to the already ridiculous experience.

Every actor has an 'e' in their name.

This surprisingly potent mix of _Death Wish_ and _To Sir, With Love_ has horror and slasher overtones boosted by clever plotting and a great exploitation cast of the oldest high school seniors since _Blackboard Jungle_.
