If nothing else, Marshal of Gunsmoke (1944) was a well-polished B-western from Universal. Tex Ritter didn't get to be in many of those. Usually it was productions rotten to the core, but doing this at one of the big studios made for fine experience. The formula is the same. Nothing unusual there. A few songs, a little horse riding action and general law & order dilemmas of a western town. At least Tex looked dusted off.
