This sort of animation always slips into the uncanny valley, and this film does so several times. On top of that, a fairly original and dark premise is made unimpressive and the motivations of the villainess are completely brushed over. That, and it falls victim to the sort of logic most kids movies seem to have these days.

Such a strange movie. The villain literally created a fascistic, female-only society where "evil-doers" get punished severely because she was mad at the men for... dancing and playing?

85 points for the most emotional part of the movie. The other points, for the bad concept and silly story.

One of those situations in which motion-capture animation becomes creepy. Ugly animation featuring dead-eyed characters. A disappointment from Disney.

Mars Needs Moms is somewhat under-rated. The animation is good, even if the humans fall into the uncanny valley, though it's easy to look past once the film gets going. The voice acting is decent, despite Green only being used for motion capture and not his vocal performance. Even its Femi-Nazi Martian plot is interesting. Where the film truly falters is its weak screenplay and script, relying heavily on exposition and clunky dialogue. I'll count this one as a noble failure.

Clearly not the abomination that many have said it to be. The production values are undoubtedly superb and the voice acting respectable. Very lightweight admittedly, with a shabby screenplay and plot, but it's just a generally substandard inoffensive kids movie.

Mars needs writers, not moms. This film bored me to death. I'm not sure if maybe I wasn't the target audience, maybe this is more for moms... even though it was released in March and not during Mother's Day. Still, the animation of the human's were downright creepy. The martians were alright but I couldn't get over how fake the humans looked. The plot is almost non-existent...

Wow, maybe the worst film in 2011. Entertaining for no one, bad animation, creepy face shit, and they lie about who plays the lead star. What?!

The weakest Disney film of the decade so far, there isn't a ton of good things in there.

"sci fi animation" and still I didnt enjoy.. that's really rare and it may be because of the deep lack of imagination and emotion...motion capture is really disturbing (by the way evil Martian supervisor looks like Anna Vintour:)

Really shitty animated film. I just didn't care about anything going on. I may rewatch it, maybe I was in a bad mood.

I'm not sure why many thought this was a bad movie. Maybe some touchy Mom's who can't discipline their kids might be offended, but I this film gave tribute to those Moms who take the backlash of the "I wish you'd die" and actually bring up a decent, and strong member, into society. I simply LOVE the female alien. She was just TOO CUTE! And the hatred of the old alien was raw and directly felt. It was pretty harsh how these aliens behaved for little kids, but for adults it was great!

"The film's production values are almost enough to make the film's monumental shortcomings worth overlooking. But only almost." - Simon Abrams

Nice looking. Talented folks doing a great job acting like cartoons. Shrill and frantic. Weak story, simple dialogue, lacks humor. Embarrassing.

Thanks to Robert Zemeckis (among others) that one of these days will be watching a new live action film with, say, Marilyn Monroe. This film will be passed along that way. But I did not mean S1m0ne type of CGI virtual character because there was a living character pretending to be a virtual one.
