Angela deMarco is unhappily married to high Mafia member Frank deMarco. When Frank is killed, Angela takes the opportunity to break free of the Mafia world entirely and start a new life. But Frank's boss, Tony Russo, begins to court the unresponsive Angela. The FBI begins surveillance on her, thinking her to be his new mistress. FBI agent Mike Downey goes undercover as Angela's neighbor, but soon finds himself attracted to Angela himself. (imdb)

What's really striking about the film is it's soundtrack (What other mob film has New Order and Haitian hip hop on the soundtrack?) and the film's real immersion in the multicultural landscape of Pfeiffer's new neighborhood. It's compelling, and really feels like Demme, but doesn't really sit all that well with the rest of the film.

Delightful film that isn't as funny as some think it is, although Dean Stockwell steals this movie in what is a pretty inspired performance. Matthew Modine and Michelle Pfeiffer both have good chemistry together. I'll never forget the burger song or Mercedes Ruehl's crazed and very funny spurned mob wife.

Matthew Modine is a grade 1 goof, Michelle Pfeiffer is the most beautiful and charming woman to ever grace the screen and Mercedes Ruehl is the female Dennis Farina. Fun!

Just a delightful 80's comedy. Demme's brand of comedy in his 80's run was quirky and one-of-kind. He uses an absolutely stellar cast to continue this trend to wonderful heights. Chief among this cast is Pfeiffer, who is absolutely perfect.

This is a vibrant little satire, with excellent performances from Michelle Pfeiffer and Dean Stockwell. Even when the plot runs thin, Demme's fantastic cinematic style keeps the film afloat, making this one really fun movie. By the way, dude had the best soundtracks. New Order what up!

De caso com a Máfia estreava há 35 anos nos EUA. Acho que esse cresceu em mim, muito por conta de outras resenhas que li por aqui, de que esse tem a única perspectiva feminina da Máfia (não conta o filme com a Toni Collete desse ano), dar voz à essas mulheres, mesmo pela veia da comédia, é ótimo. RARBG.
