Mark of the Devil

Another film in the witchfinder canon that amply demonstrates that these people were complete bastards, and that the townsfolk generally lap up whatever atrocity is being committed. Just nasty stuff. I didn't find this as good as Witchfinder General, but it was decent. It shared some of the brutality and bleakness of that picture, but lacked the sharpness. Lom and Kier are always watchable, and the rat-faced Nalder makes a suitably unpleasant impression. Liked the setting, score was weird.

Udo is not the witch hunter that Vince Price was, but he still burns them up pretty well.

Though its barf is ultimately worse than its bite, this remains a fairly kinky, sadistic flick, featuring strong turns by fright vets Lom, Nalder, and Kier. Some of the Inquisitional dialogue is worthy of Monty Python.

Not sure what, but something about it really doesn't "click" with me. Even with all the torture it's still a pretty flat film with an odd score. They say sound design can make or break a film, maybe this is one of those cases.

Mas sério, o gore deve ter assustado as pessoas em 1970, o espalhafato da publicidade tinha um tiquinho de verdade, embora só estivesse preparando para o que viria no decorrer daquela década tanto no cinema americano quanto no Europeu.
