Man of La Mancha

a few good songs(although im not a fan of loren's singing) and otoole was great. not walking away WOWed at all, but it wasn't terrible.

as a musical it's not that bad, but as a quixote adaption it's a bit flat. o'toole does not wear that age make-up well, hell he actually looks better now that he is an old man. it's got a couple good songs and loren is smokin'. you won't walk away hating yourself entirely.

1036: great implementation of Don Quixote and Cervantes life!

Well made musical and a movie.Although everything here - settings,people and sometimes atmosphere - is in the shades of grey,you'll get used to it quickly.Only one scene seems badly made; in general, all actors play well,especially Peter O'Toole and Sophia Loren - extremely well, I'd say; seeing "real" tears in their eyes - priceless. Most actors have a great singing voice, too.Also, this movie carries a message, or even several of them, which is unfortunately very rare in modern cinematography.

A disappointment in a number of ways, to be sure. Almost no one in this film was cast for their singing ability, the cinematography is mostly bland (with the exception of the glaringly awful windmill scene), and the general atmosphere is vaguely drab and slow. The songs, though some verge on being butchered, are still very good by musical standards, and a couple of scenes and numbers are well-performed, with the result not being a total loss.
