I thought this was fine. I wouldn't put it in my list of favorite comedies in a million years though. Payne's voice got a little annoying but at the same time I think I was getting use to it. There are some funny lines and scenes. It's just not something to write home about. I'm sure your grandfather will think it's funny. I'm no grandpa but I still thought it was a pretty decent time.

Does it have a good story? No. Does it have good acting in it? For the most part, no. Did I have fun watching it? Yes! It has silly humour, the jokes don't really always hit, but there is something about the character of Major Payne I actually find ... funny. So the high-ish score from me comes because I had fun watching it. Objectively it's a bad film and most people will most definitely hate this one, but humour luckily is subjective and some might have fun with it, like I did.

Just who is this movie for? It's not for children due to the swearing, but the violence and mischief is PG at most. Who decided to hire a psychopath to teach children? The romance was nonsensical since he's a terrible person. The teambuilding hijinks have been done better elsewhere. This was insulting to the military. Wayans had a stupid voice. Fav scenes: eaf kid doing drill blindfolded; Wayans calling blind kid Ace Ventura and his dog Cujo.

Guilty pleasure. I love this movie. Damon Wayans is hilarious. Note that it's PG-13 for a reason. It's not a little kids movie.

Routine, by-the-numbers fish out of water might play better if you enjoy Wayans’ grating, over-the-top constipated vocal patterns, but otherwise a fairly harmless entry in the never-ending series of 90s kids comedies; leans on the likes of PRIVATE BENJAMIN and STRIPES in its portrayals of the comic brutality of army training, but oddly the film doesn’t provide Wayans with a true antagonist to push against, which means the drama loses oomph after the bonding begins.

Another movie similar to the "Dangerous Minds" (although I'm not sure which one was produced first). The rebellion is more childish and the main hero is a personification of almost all stereotypes regarding an american army. The train station scene and the whole "relationship" is so cliché I don't even want to think about it. The outcome of all actions is predictable. It may be funny to your children and it makes a good family movie, but honestly, what is the most funny here is the title's pun.

Hey let's end this with a rap dance thing because everyone loves to watch little fat white kids rap (Apparently they did in the 90s remember that little midget thing that clung on that scumbag guy, Kid ROOOOOOCK.

I like Damon Wayans and found this movie funny. It's no Stripes, but it will do as a comedy that kids can enjoy.

Unfunny. If a movie has killed my ability to respect Bam Bam Bigelow onscreen before his arrival onscreen, all copies of said movie should be condemned to a time capsule and its whereabouts lost forever.

One time my Mormon uncle was talking about this movie and he literally said, "it's funny because they are kidding around." At this point I punched him in the face and took a dump on his chest. I hate Mormons.

This feels like the kind of safe, usual comedy for the 90's. Major Payne is not crazy funny, but it's entertaining and it's got some mildly funny and heart-warming moments. That kid, Tiger, sure was the cutest, especially when contrasted with Payne. They do not entirely work out the whole deal with them finding these father figure/son -moments, but it's still kind of endearing. Joke-wise, it's not going to make you laugh like crazy, but it has a few funny gags.

Major Payne was probably Wayans' best comedic film role, presumably because he didn't write it. He is a one dimensional actor who is only skilled at playing caricatures, so it was easy for him to slip into the shoes of a cartoonish army soldier whose dedication to the military has rendered him socially dysfunctional. The humour stems from his misunderstanding of civilian life, especially of women and children, and some of the jokes are funny, but it's an overly broad comedy that lacks brains.

I realize my score is based solely on the fact that, when intoxicated, it's one of those movies my friends and i love to empty our heads for, but that's a fine enough criteria for this. I can't help but cringe at times though.

Hilarious child abuse story led by the always elegantly funny Wayans. Excellent turn from 'Bam Bam' Bigelow. None of what I just typed is true. Points for the Apocalypse now scene.

I just don't understand the target audience for movies like this. I know they're typically the product of focus groups and marketing research, but there must have been some serious flaws in the data. The Apocalypse Now parody is the one shining point, but what little kid is going to pick up on that? And what grown adult is willing to sit through the hour of toilet humor that follows it?
