Bob Uecker is to baseball what Morgan Freeman is to penguins. I can do better. Bob Uecker does for this team what Geoffery Rush did for the King. Reaching. Bob Uecker is to David Mamet what Chelcie Ross is to David S. Ward. Wait. Corbin Bernsen is to Tom Berenger what The Dentist is to The Substitute. I'm off the rails. Dennis Haysbert is to Allstate what Charlie Sheen is to Tiger Blood.

I have this fantasy where it’s the bottom of the ninth bases loaded, I’m brought in as the relief pitcher, Green Onions is blaring and the god damn batters hits a grand slam and I’m booed out of the country. Baseball Platoon.

It simply isn't funny; it's more of a baseball drama than a comedy, and it drags on and on. There is about forty minutes of content here stretched to an hour and forty minutes. The love plot is the least interesting part of the story yet takes up a huge amount of screen time. While the most interesting characters, particularly Wild Thing, Mays, the vagisil pitcher and the voodoo guy get hardly any development at all. Good potential, but poorly written.

Middling sports film feels like the poor second cousin to BULL DURHAM - occupies an odd spot between POLICE ACADEMY style shenanigans and DURHAM's more humanistic take and never quite satisfies on either count, though Berenger, Sheen and Snipes do their best to bring some life to the film (a giggly Russo is also fun to have around). May play better to baseball fans, though even they may struggle with the oppressively heavy handed musical score!

a comedy in tone if not content. also one of the most honest baseball films, and probably does the best job capturing the kinds of people who make it to the majors in the first place. perhaps the most jarring aspect watching this now is the age of the players. where are all of the 23 year old relief pitchers being shuttled back and forth from AAA after phantom IL stints? I guess the Rays didn't exist yet

It might be a little crude and dated, but this is the definitive baseball comedy. Every sport needs a comedy movie, and this is the best one there is for Baseball. It's darn funny, and has a lot of very memorable characters. Really good!

Nothing special. Passes the time, but doesn't have all that much to offer. Very formulaic as an American 80s comedy and a baseball film. I like the concept of a film about baseball, but the only one I've ever really liked is The Rookie with Dennis Quaid. Nine out of ten baseball films consist of just two things: a quirky but predictable bunch of characters, and ridiculous, slow-motion, winning baseball action scenes. This film has both. It's pretty boring. I just want one interesting character

Disappointing. The movie had potential as an ensemble comedy, but it really plays out much more like a drama than I was expecting. I mean it's just...not...funny...at all. I think the love plot was completely trite and boring. Cutting it would have given them more time to focus on the comedy. Though a lot of the movie is simply outdated, there are however some enjoyable moments like the charming intro. I like what they were going for, but ultimately it never fully succeeds in getting there.

One of the classic of the sports underdog genre. This is an unashamed slice of 80s comedy that overcomes the trappings of the predictable plot with some good humour and memorable characters, and it's impossible not to get caught up in Wild Thing towards the end.

Its status as a sports “comedy” honestly feels dubious to me, I feel like there wasn’t more than like a dozen jokes/punchlines in the whole thing; Dodgeball or Happy Gilmore this is not. But that said yeah it runs through the underdog sports formula adroitly enough, and the underdog sports formula is a thing for one simple reason: It usually works! James Gammon’s voice is iconic.

This movie is awful. The Owner wants to have their Indian team in last place so that she can relocate the team to Miami Florida. Then the team realized this and wins the championship in the end. This movie doesn't focus on the main storyline here. They are more focused on all these side stories that has nothing to do with this movie. Such the ball player wants to be with a Woman he knew 3 years ago and other stuff like that. It doesn't get a 0 because of the last 10 min where they win.

Major League is one of those movies that I love but doesn't have much artistic value beyond being entertaining. I have seen this movie about a hundred times. I used to watch an edited version when I was a kid and this might have been my first time watching the whole, unedited cut of the movie. Dennis Haysbert as Cerrano will shock me till the day I die. Rene Russo is cute and likable in this movie. Wesley Snipes is pretty subdued from what I remember. Uecker is a legend. Still great in my eyes.

As a predictable, feel-good sports movie about ragtag underdogs overcoming the odds, Major League is an adequate watch. It's supposed to be a comedy though, and there's scarcely a joke pitched throughout the entirety of its bloated innings, despite the best intentions of a decent cast.

Major League ultimately works, and it works fairly well. It's full of cliché around every base, but it still is an entertaining watch. The people who made this movie get baseball, which is always a bonus for me. The Indians actually feel like a real team, the action on the field is done in a realistic fashion, and this makes it more enjoyable. If only a couple of clichés could have been left out of the film, then it would have been a really fun watch, instead of just a pretty good one.

A classic sports comedy about a ragtag group of oddballs. Normally, you wouldn't expect the likes of Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes and Corbin Bernsen to be headlining a comedy, but it actually works. This movie seems like a staple of weekend programming on a station like TBS, but I still find myself enjoying when I do catch a few minutes of it.
