A group of college kids travel to a small, mountain town called Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book on the accounts of several grisly murders. When the kids arrive, the author has vanished. The towns people all say that the killer never existed and the murders never happened. It feels like a lot of things are in this movie just because they're in other movies the director likes. A mute, masked villain. A creepy small town. A creepy old lady in said town. Property damage.

Ever see those stupid films where the villain gets hit in the head, knocked out, and the stupid hero leaves the villain, to perform some stupid irrelevant task (like running and screaming), then the unconscious villain comes around and re-attacks? In Madison County, It's happened 6 times, and I haven't even finished the movie! The villain's gotten an axe to the shoulder, a club to the head, a shovel to the head twice, knife in the guts and knife in the lungs; and he isn't even limping!
