The film revolves around Tom and Hannah, who have been platonic friends for 10 years. He's a serial dater, while she wants marriage but hasn't found Mr. Right. Just as Tom is starting to think that he is relationship material after all, Hannah gets engaged. When she asks Tom to be her "maid" of honor, he reluctantly agrees just so he can attempt to stop the wedding and woo her.

I got this to give my date something to watch. Quickly I realized it was going to be a challenge for me to keep my mouth shut during the entire 101 minutes. It is excessively horrible (if that is possible). Monaghan's fiance is really annoying and his voice is almost as bad as nails on a chalk board. Why Dempsey decided to do this I have no idea. He should change his name to Dumbsey. Oh and my date ended up actually hating it, too. So that should give my review a tad more credibility.

Horrible on every level. Patrick Dempsey should kill himself so no one would have to see his smug talentless gay face ever on screen again. Goddamn this movie is horrible. I can't believe someone actually gave this a 100.

It had such an adorable plot! I wanted it to be so much better than it was. The idea of two people being absolute best friends and learning that they are in love with their best friend was great! But I wasn't overly impressed. Sad. Dempsey was great as always, but I thought Monaghan was a little lacking. Plus, lots of pg13 jokes that weren't needed. It was cute enough, but could have been so much better!

McDreamy might work on ABC as the heartthrob of the surgery ward, but he certainly doesn't belong in movies... at all.

A terrible romantic comedy where, not only is there no comedy, the romance is incredibly predictable and surprisingly hard to root for.

Very meh romcom with all the expected plot points as well as the expected complete lack of respect for any country that isn't America (in this case they're lampooning Scotland), but it passes the time okay & does have a few nice moments. The beginning & ending tie together nicely, there's a cool scene between Tom & Hannah involving a pot of salt, & I laughed at a couple bits. It's not very good, but I didn't hate it. I'm still not huge on the "redeeming a womanizer" trope of the genre.

The entire "plot" can be guessed by the opening scene, but Michelle Monaghan does bring a bit of spunk to the hare-brianed, predictable proceedings.

It wasn't that this movie was bad. It just didn't click. The plot moved jerkily and the romance just seemed forced. Dempsey and Monaghan have chemistry but not enough to pull off a really great movie. Worst of all, for a romantic comedy, there wasn't much outright or implied humor.

it's My Best Friend's Wedding with a pretty guy in lieu of Julia Roberts. Also, much less funny.

Paper-thin story, predictable as the sun rising and setting, very weak supporting roles, cheap manipulation of stereotypes for some quick laughs at the expense of the Scots... I really don't know why I bothered watching. The only saving grace is that it stars some newcomer actors instead of Drew Barrymore / Kate Hudson / Matthew McConaughey / Adam Sandler.

Comédia romântica bastante boba, mas que diverte a quem aprecia um filme fácil e suave, com bons atores. Destaque especial ao ator Patrick Dempsey, em uma boa atuação, mantendo seu carisma sempre em dia.

I was expecting a little bit more from this than what I got and I find that disappointing. The cast wasn't as good as it should be. Had a couple of chuckles but that was it.

Get beyond the idiotic set up and you still have one of the most mean spirited "romantic" comedies in recent memory, hinging on the platonic male best friends overt plan to destroy his unrequited love's pending marriage and humiliate the groom by waiting until the lavish ceremony to confess his feelings. I didn't laugh once. I nearly vomited twice.

Full of clichés and is not funny. Not exactly a disappointment, as this was expected due to several factors, such as story and the actors.

Oh I get it...The guy is the Maid of Honor...guys can't do that can they? What I guess they can but when they do it's apparently suppose to be funny...why didn't someone tell me that before I saw this, I would have known to laugh.

Is Scotland paying Hollywood to make these traveling commercials? "Come to Scotland, hot men available and we'll throw you in a casttle"..

Must stop watching romantic comedies on planes. Michelle Monaghan has that sexy rolled out of bed look for most of it though.

8/3/08 - I saw this at the dollar theater. It was okay. Classic ro-co but I don't get why they had to add the whole scotland part to the plot. I think the movie would have been more believable if it was set in the US with out the Scottish fan fare.

Better than your average chick flick, but the whole Scotland ties throughout kind of ruined it.
