Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger

An irresistible fan-boy spill from Scorsese who as always delivers the perfect balance of the passionate and analytical, aided by the P&P catalogue which provides plenty of food for thought. Some nice moments of Scorsese making the explicit connections with his films, combined with his knowledgeable overview of British cinema at the time; if there’s a minor quibble, a little more broad commentary on British cinema, and P&P’s place in it, could have made this an even more definitive document.

Quem me conhece sabe da minha obsessão por Powell e Pressburger, por isso não vai se surpreender que chorei cada segundo desse documentário porque vi o amor do Marty refletido no meu, guardada as devidas proporções. Todo mundo deveria ter o direito de fazer um filme assim sobre os seus ídolos. YTS.
