The story is decent, the songs and music were okay but nothing special, The historical accuracies were nonexistent. But the I couldn't fault the singing prowess for the majority of the actors with extra props to Ying Huang who was amazing.

The beautiful sets are about the only good aspect of this film adaptation of Puccini's opera. Richard Troxell is the only singer in the cast that has any business singing his role internationally, but he is so poorly recorded it's difficult to tell. Ms. Huang is no Puccini soprano in ANY universe. (Yes, I work in opera.) Apart from the singing, the music is further disfigured by odd breaks to accommodate scene shifts. Operas almost never make good movies--this one doesn't even come close.

French can set movies in foreign countries unlike americans. The settings is exellent. It is Japan like I imagine it. I love Ying Huang she is so ful of emotion and she is great singer.
